What happened

Indian and Chinese troops fought hand to hand in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in the deadliest border clash with China since 1962.

Days later, the Prime Minister told an all-party meeting that nobody had entered Indian territory and no post had been captured. Critics said it handed Beijing a propaganda gift and contradicted his own government's earlier account. If no one intruded, they asked, where did 20 soldiers die? No accountability followed for the intelligence failure or the lost ground.
